‘NPP USED MY POPULARITY TO GET VOTES FROM THE PEOPLE’ – Asamoah Gyan

Gyan’s involvement with the NPP started when he was named chairman of the “Youth and Sports” subcommittee for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign.

Nonetheless, his participation was brief. Only weeks prior to the elections, Gyan stepped down from his position, expressing his wish to concentrate on humanitarian efforts.

Looking back on the experience, Gyan expressed his regret about participating with the party, claiming they exploited his position to influence voters.

The NPP experienced a major loss in the 2024 general elections.

Their presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, lost to John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a landslide victory.
