Popular Kumawood actor, Kwaku Manu has expressed worries regarding how Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are treated in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In an interview, Kwaku Manu asserted that with Nana Addo no longer in power, the NPP may hinder Dr. Bawumia from pursuing the presidency again.
Manu claims that Nana Addo leveraged his presidential influence to promote Dr. Bawumia within the party. Nonetheless, with Nana Addo no longer in power, he thinks the party’s powerful figures will assert their control to marginalize Bawumia.
He stated, “As Nana Addo has left the NPP, the party won’t allow Dr. Bawumia to stand for president again. They feel like Nana Addo used his power as president to bring Dr. Bawumia into prominence. Now that he is no longer in power, they will use their money and influence to show that the party belongs to them.”
Manu also contemplated the changing dynamics inside the party, indicating that Nana Addo has lost the respect he previously held during his presidency.
“Now even the NPP members, when they meet Nana Addo and he misbehaves, they will tell him, ‘When you’re on the seat, that’s when you have power. Since you’re no longer on the seat, nobody is scared of you.’
