NSMQ 2025: MFANTSIPIM DEFENDS TITLE, BEAT AUGUSCO, OWASS TO CLAIM BACK-TO-BACK GLORY

Once again, Mfantsipim School has made a reputation for itself.
In front of an enthusiastic audience at the University of Cape Coast, the Botwe Boys successfully defended their championship to win the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), gaining back-to-back victory and their fourth national title.
Three of Ghana’s most prestigious schools came together for the grand finale, known as the “battle of the giants.”
In a thrilling showdown at the University of Cape Coast’s NEC Auditorium, Mfantsipim outclassed St. Augustine’s College (Augusco) and Opoku Ware School (OWASS) in a battle that tested intelligence, teamwork, and nerves of steel.
The competition was intense from the start. As each right response sent waves of excitement down the hall, cheers reverberated throughout the NEC Auditorium. Supporters were enthralled with every question as the three schools shown exceptional talent and tenacity.
However, Augusco and OWASS trailed closely with 17 points apiece, while the reigning champions got off to a good start, leading with 20 points in the opening round.
Augusco responded to the speed round with excellent collaboration, winning the second round with 27 points, followed by Mfantsipim with 24 and Opoku Ware with 17.
But Botwe quickly regained the upper hand. They scored 30 points, just ahead of Augusco’s 29 in the Problem of the Day, while OWASS struggled with 19 points. They did it with accuracy and poise.
The atmosphere was electrifying by the fourth round. With a dominant 46 points, Mfantsipim maintained their advantage over Augusco at 42 and OWASS at 29.
The entire hall was tense when the last round came. Every query, buzzer sound, and applause were significant. With 56 points, the Botwe guys secured their victory by remaining focused, responding wisely, and finishing powerfully. As the last bell sounded, the crowd surged in celebration of Mfantsipim’s merited victory.
After a valiant battle, St. Augustine’s College finished second with 42 points, while Opoku Ware School came in third with 29 points.
The auditorium was filled with screams of “God is a MOBA!” with red-and-white flags waving proudly as the champions raised the trophy, their hearts joyful and their smiles broad. The Botwe Boys demonstrated once more that they are a formidable force in the realm of intellectual brilliance, making it a moment of unadulterated happiness and history.
By winning four national trophies, Mfantsipim School not only preserved their title but also left a lasting impression on NSMQ history.
