Despite widespread demands for the resignation of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has justified his decision to keep him in office.
He claims that when the governing party was sworn into government in 2017, the economy, which had been on the edge of collapse, increased by an average of 7 percent thanks to the efforts of Ken Ofori-Atta.
He said he could not reject someone who had accomplished so much for the nation. He said he’s retaining Ofori-Atta in office because he’s done a great job for the previous six years.
“I took office in 2017 when we were participating in an IMF program. For the first three to four years, this same Ken Ofori-Atta effectively managed the economy. Back then, our economy was among the world’s most dynamic. Annually, our pace of expansion was a healthy 7%.
“For someone who has been able to do all these, how do I turn my back on him? For me, his performance has been excellent. That is why I have great difficulty in understanding what is going on,” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said while speaking on Kumasi-based OTEC FM, Monday, October 17.
After the UK Prime Minister fired Kwasi Kwarteng over the country’s mini-budget, demands for Ken Ofori-resignation Atta’s increased.
North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa supports removing the minister. Ken Ofori-Atta should be fired as Liz Truss fired Kwasi Kwarteng as UK Finance Minister.
See post below;
Kwasi Kwarteng hasn’t done a fraction of the damage Ken Ofori-Atta has caused the Ghanaian economy but he gets to be sacked and Ken is showered with praises from his family member, President Akufo-Addo as Ghanaians languish in more pain.
Sad — no justice in the world. 😭😭😭😭😭
