President-elect, John Dramani Mahama has stated that power will not go to his head.
He has gained insight from John Agyekum Kufour’s experiences, his loss in 2016, and understands that power is fleeting.
The President-elect announced this today, December 15, 2024, during his address to the attendees of the Ring Road Assemblies of God Church, where he worships.
“At least today it has been happiness; we are dressed in white, but sometimes it has been sadness; it has been very lonely,” he said.
He remembered visiting Kufour’s residence near Villagio, finding a remarkably tranquil atmosphere—a location that had been teeming with people during his presidency in Ghana.
John Dramani Mahama mentioned that John Agyekum Kufour advised him to take lessons from him and understand that those who surround him are merely there due to his authority.
The NDC leader stated that he has gained insights since that time and does not allow power to influence him.
“So for me, these don’t get to my head. I know that all the praises and blessings you will be showered by people are temporary; it’s because of that word attached to your name—President. One day it will go and you’ll be with those who are…” he said
