OSP DECLARES FORMER FINANCE MINISTER KEN OFORI-ATTA WANTED, LABELS HIM A FUGITIVE

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a public notice declaring former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a wanted fugitive. The notice, released on February 13, 2025, features a bold “WANTED” banner alongside Ofori-Atta’s photograph, full name, and personal details, including his age, gender, eye color, hair color, and complexion. The poster also lists his potential locations as the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (USA).

According to the OSP, Ofori-Atta is wanted for questioning in connection with multiple high-profile cases, including the Strategic Mobilization-GRA Contract, the termination of the ECG-GXC contract, National Cathedral payments, the Ambulance Procurement Contract, and the utilization of the Tax Refund Account.

The notice follows a press conference held by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng on February 12, 2025, during which he declared Ofori-Atta a fugitive from justice. Agyebeng urged the former minister to return to Ghana immediately to assist with the investigations, warning that failure to comply would result in measures to compel his return.

Agyebeng also dismissed claims that Ofori-Atta had traveled abroad for medical treatment, stating that such assertions were unfounded. He emphasized that the former minister’s cooperation was non-negotiable and critical to the integrity of the ongoing investigations.

In a surprising twist, Agyebeng refuted reports that OSP officials had raided Ofori-Atta’s residence on February 11, 2025. Instead, he alleged that the former minister had orchestrated the purported raid to mislead the public and undermine the credibility of the OSP’s investigations.

“The claims of a raid on his residence are false and calculated to distract from the serious allegations he faces. We urge the public to disregard such misinformation and focus on the facts,” Agyebeng stated during the press briefing.

Ken Ofori-Atta, a key figure in the previous administration, is among several former government appointees currently under investigation by the OSP. His declaration as a wanted fugitive marks a significant escalation in the probe into alleged corruption and financial misconduct during his tenure as Finance Minister.
