OUR OCEAN RESOURCES ARE KEY TO OUR PROSPERITY — Tourism Minister

Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, has stated that Ghana’s marine and coastal resources are still essential to the country’s success and must be protected and used responsibly.

She emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy that combined economic growth with environmental stewardship and cultural preservation during her remarks at the commencement of a three-day national consultation workshop on Ghana’s draft Blue Economy Strategy in Accra on Wednesday.

The event offers a rare chance to reiterate the critical role that ocean resources play in everyone’s overall well-being and prosperity.

More than 260 people from government departments, academia, commercial sector organizations, civil society, and development partners attended.

The completion of Ghana’s first Blue Economy Strategy, a national framework to support sustainable ocean-based growth, is a critical step in the process.

“Our ocean heritage, livelihoods, and ecosystems must be developed with foresight and protected for future generations,” Madam Gomashie said.

She reaffirmed her ministry’s dedication to community-led marine conservation projects and emphasized the significance of preserving undersea cultural treasures and promoting sustainable coastal tourism.
