Paul Adom Otchere, chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited and host of Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV, has found himself at the center of public attention after reportedly leaving Ghana for the United Kingdom in the wake of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the presidential elections.
His unexpected departure has fueled speculation, particularly following the discovery of his phone at Heathrow Airport shortly after his arrival. Hanna Louisa Bissiw, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, disclosed this development during a live interview on Radio Gold, sharing her failed attempts to reach Adom Otchere post-election.
“I’ve been trying to contact Paul since the election results came in,” Bissiw revealed, calling his number live on air. To the astonishment of listeners, the call was answered by a Heathrow Airport staff member, who stated, “The phone was found on a plane and is being kept at the front desk.”
Adom Otchere’s abrupt absence has amplified scrutiny, particularly in light of his outspoken commentary in the lead-up to the elections. He had openly criticized Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, for releasing polls forecasting a National Democratic Congress (NDC) victory.
During a broadcast of Good Evening Ghana, Adom Otchere accused Dankwah of producing unreliable data, calling him a “disgrace to the research community.” He also ridiculed the NDC, boldly predicting a crushing defeat that would force the party to “reassess their strategies.”
The turn of events, coupled with Adom Otchere’s sudden trip, has fueled criticism from his detractors, who now feel vindicated by the election results. His critics are demanding accountability, with some interpreting his departure as an attempt to avoid public backlash.
The media personality has yet to comment on the situation, leaving the public speculating about the reasons behind his untimely trip and its connection to the political climate.
