PEACE PACT HAD DISCREPANCIES AHEAD OF NPP PRIMARIES – Kennedy Agyapong’s Spokesperson

Spokesperson for the Kennedy Agyapong campaign team, Lawyer Amoh Dartey, has revealed discrepancies in a peace document presented to the lawmaker ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primary elections.

According to Mr Dartey, Kennedy Agyapong was given the document in advance, reviewed it, and submitted it. However, on the day of the signing, Friday, January 23, some clauses had allegedly been omitted or altered.

“The original understanding was that both during and after the elections, if there was any reason to believe that the results did not reflect the true will of the electorate, those results would be nullified,” Mr Dartey explained. “But the document presented for signing stated that all parties must accept the outcome, regardless of who wins.”

Speaking on Onua FM, Mr Dartey emphasised, “Kennedy Agyapong doesn’t sign documents just because they’re handed to him. Whenever a document is presented to you, do yourself a favour and read it carefully. Ignoring it could be like signing your own death warrant.”

Mr Dartey added that the Acting National Chairman of the party, Danquah Smith Buttey, acknowledged Mr Agyapong’s vigilance, agreeing that he should be commended for raising the concern and drawing attention to the discrepancies.

The error was later rectified to ensure the document was properly signed, allowing the peace process to move forward.

The revelation comes amid heightened tensions as the party prepares for the elections scheduled for January 31.
