The importance of women’s empowerment in helping young women overcome societal obstacles was emphasized by famous media personality, Nana Adwoa Awindor.
Addressing the 2024 Youth Week event at the Assemblies of God Cedar Mountain Chapel International in East Legon, she highlighted the numerous obstacles encountered by women and young girls, such as intimidation and financial exploitation.
She emphasized the significance of self-sufficiency and encouraged youth to constantly improve themselves to stay strong in tough times.
“One of the things that people abuse girls with is money. That is why we have to keep empowering our girls. You need to find a reason to upscale yourself. Empowerment is optimal and important because people tend to succumb to anything when they are vulnerable. And that is why we must empower you every step of the way,” she said.
Nana Adwoa Awindor highlighted the importance of qualities such as honesty, integrity, and faith, stating that they are crucial for young people to succeed in life.
In her opinion, these qualities can unlock opportunities and lead to long-term benefits.
“If you are honest, there are so many things you would just conquer. If you are honest, you will get work to do. You will have repeated work and recommendations etc. So I would say honesty is prime.
“We are not angels. We can’t be prim and proper, but we should remind ourselves that this is who I am and this is who I want to be,” she added.
