PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE THE FREEDOM TO TRAVEL ANYWHERE THEY WANT WITHOUT NEEDING A VISA – A-Plus

Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A Plus, a potential candidate for parliament and entertainment commentator, has expressed doubts about the necessity of requiring a visa for international travel.

He brought up this topic while talking on United Showbiz on UTV, as the guests talked about the increasing number of Ghanaians moving abroad for a better life.

The Gomoa Central parliamentary candidate believes that a visa should not be mandatory for traveling to another country.

He urged different nations to welcome others with open arms, citing the colonial era as an example where colonial powers entered Ghana without needing a visa and took the country’s minerals.

“I’m one person who believes that human beings must be able to go wherever they want to go. People must have the freedom to travel wherever they want to go. I don’t understand why we have to go for visas before we can travel. I personally believe that people should have the freedom to travel. When the white man came to Ghana to collect our gold, did he enter the country with a visa?” he said.

He also believes that visas should not be a top priority for travel because countries gain from each other, as seen with Nico Williams, the Spanish footballer with Ghanaian roots who had a strong performance at the recently concluded Euros 2024.

“Look at Iñaki Williams’ brother, Nico Williams. Didn’t he score goals during the Euro tournament? These foreigners should open their gates to people because they are also benefiting,” he added.
