PEOPLE SHOULDN’T USE THE GRAMMY ARTICLE TO PITCH ARTISTES AGAINST EACH OTHER – Rocky Dawuni

Ghanaian music legend, Rocky Dawuni has commented on the recent Grammy Hip-life article issue, promoting solidarity in the music sector.

During a conversation with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM on September 3, 2024, Rocky Dawuni stated his lack of interest in the current discussion, highlighting that it is being utilized to generate headlines and cause division among artists.

He said that any acknowledgment of the music industry, like the Grammy’s recognition of Hip-life, is a good thing for the music industry and should be valued.

“Every acknowledgement of our music industry is a positive one. They (the Grammys) have acknowledged hip-life, which is rightfully so.

“So, I don’t think there should be any argument or using this to say one artiste is this or one artiste is that. Then they are going into the whole thing of putting artistes against each other,” he said.

He urged for a stop to pointless disputes and contrasts among artists, promoting a united acknowledgment of the industry’s successes.

“We are together; we should all work together. Anything that comes is for the country. It is an acknowledgement of the music industry, and we should leave it at that,” he said.

Rocky Dawuni emphasized the role of artists such as Stonebwoy in advocating for Africa to be recognized as the origin of music.

He stated that recognizing the efforts of African creators and innovators in any article is beneficial for the music industry of the country.

“Stonebwoy has contributed amazingly to the music industry. All of us have.

“I have been calling for the acknowledgement of Africa. The place that has been the birthplace of music deserves to be recognized.

“So any article that recognises the contribution of African creators and innovators is always a positive one,” he said.
