Mzbel, a Ghanaian musician who had a successful delivery and a modest naming ceremony, has revealed why she keeps uploading pictures of her pregnancy to social media.
She decided to post the pictures on her timeline as a reminder because she wants Ghanaians and the rest of the world to know that she gave birth to her daughter at nine months and did not adopt her.
In an interview with MzGee on United Showbiz, she revealed that the situation involving her son Adepa at school, when she had to persuade him that she actually gave birth to him, inspired her to come up with this concept.
She added that some social media comments implied that she had adopted her son, and that once Adepa came home from school and informed her that people tend to doubt him when he claims that Mzbel is his mother.
Adepa was informed by certain coworkers that Mzbel isn’t his original mother because he was adopted, she said.
She said: “At my point, people wrote comments on social media that I adopted my son, Adepa
Even Adepa told me that some people at school don’t believe him whenever he says his mother is Mzbel. They always tell him he is adopted child. When I go for interviews, media personalities always ask me about my adopted children. So the word adopted was going round but it was a legal adoption. I was helping children from deprived homes but it proved futile.”
“Everyone believes that I can’t give birth or I don’t have children. Because I didn’t share my pregnancy photos on social media when I got pregnant with my first child. People think adopted my son. At that time, people were still exploring with social media.
