Elijah Kwame Owusu Danso, a former member of defunct music group, Echo, has opened up on how some people tried to water down his appointment as running mate for Alan Kyerematen, the Presidential Candidate for Movement for Change.
During an interview with Lexis Bill on Joy FM’s ‘Personality Profile,’ Kwame, previously called E-Nice, mentioned that despite receiving many good wishes, some individuals ridiculed him by mentioning ‘Gologolo,’ a song he had dropped many years ago.
Upon being questioned about the feedback he received regarding his running-mate nomination, he jokingly responded that the feedback was “‘Gologolo’ feedback.”
He further elaborated that certain individuals, potentially affected by political biases, sought to divert focus from his character and accomplishments to the music he created.
“They tried to ridicule the music and tried to belittle the relevance of my nomination, to say that ‘Ghana is a cartoon station is heaven, this is a joke’, inference that I am a musician and I did ‘Gologolo’,” he said.
He mentioned that those individuals may have overlooked the fact that music serves different purposes, such as bringing joy to people.
“You know music speaks to the heart and the soul and music has a way of lifting you from your lowest moment to your highest moment. People have often times even wanted commit suicide but they hear some songs and then they refrain from doing that,” he explained.
However, he noted that the apparent mockery actually increased his visibility.
“One they put that narrative out, the commentaries also propelled the story and by the grace of God now everybody got to know and I remember because at the time there was no YouTube, the video had about 100 views. The last time I checked, it had over 12,000 views. This means that people were curious about who I was. They were digging to find out who exactly I was,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kwame has suggested that he agreed to be Alan Kyerematen’s running mate because Alan is committed to having youth in leadership positions.
