Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Monday, October 15, 2018 hosted American rapper Kanye West and his reality TV star wife Kim Kardashian at State House, Kampala.

Kanye and Kim who reportedly arrived in Uganda at Entebbe Airport on Friday 12 October 2018 are in the country to shoot a part of the rapper’s new video for an album to be released on November 23 or Black Friday while touring the East African nation.

Museveni welcomed them to the country and had discussions around boosting tourism before exchanging some gifts. Kanye brought the President some white Yeezy sneakers while Museveni handed Kim a signed copy of his book, Sowing the Mustard Seed.

Ugandans were thrilled when their President shared photos of the meeting and they urged him to bring back his rapping skills and record a collabo.

He tweeted the photos with the caption below:

“I welcome American entertainment stars Kanye West and @KimKardashian to Uganda. I held fruitful discussions with the duo on how to promote Uganda’s tourism and the arts. I thank Kanye for the gift of white sneakers. Enjoy your time in Uganda. It is the true Pearl of Africa”.

Some twitter users reacted to the President’s tweet:

Agaba Beso asked; “When are you releasing The Mpa Enkoni Remix?”

Ian Steve wrote; “Haha I heard museveni is a rapper, we need a remix. Kwezi kwezi remix.”

Irumba added; “I see the main muzukulu getting a collabo… .”

Meanwhile, the couple accompanied by their daughter North are booked in the exclusive Chobe Safari lodge in which he has completely taken over as other guests were asked to leave and their money refunded back to them sources say.

Kanye West and his family’s visit has excited Ugandans, especially those in tourism industry who consider it a harbinger for possible influx of foreign tourists.

Chobe is located in Murchison Falls, the largest of Uganda’s 10 national parks, and lies astride River Nile, the world’s longest river.

According to Mr Stephen Asiimwe, executive director Uganda Tourism Board, both tourists are influencers with more than a combined millions of followers on social media, internet and television.

Based on the reach of their influence, particularly among the wealthiest around the world, Uganda hopes their visit will inspire many of their associates to visit and spur local tourism.

“It is going to have a ripple effect and people around the world will look out for Uganda as a place to visit. It is good for branding and visibility,” Mr Asiimwe added.

Uganda earns $1.2b (Shs5 trillion) from the tourism, according to government figures, making the sector one of the country’s top foreign exchange earners.
