PIESIE ESTHER SPEAKS ON VIRAL IMAGE OF SERWAA AMIHERE IN ‘ARREST’ CONTROVERSY

Accra, Ghana – Gospel singer Piesie Esther and media personality Serwaa Amihere have opened up about the misinformation surrounding Serwaa’s alleged arrest, which spread across social media following the circulation of a misleading video.

The incident began on 14 October 2024, when blogger NKONKONSA posted a screenshot of a picture showing Serwaa in handcuffs, escorted by police officers, with a caption suggesting that the news anchor had been arrested. The image rapidly sparked outrage online, prompting the Ghana Police Service to issue a statement clarifying that the video was from a music video shoot for Piesie Esther.

In an interview on GhOne TV on 18 October 2024, the duo spoke about how the confusion unfolded and their reactions to the viral rumor. Piesie Esther, who was on air at a radio station when the news broke, shared her surprise. “By the time I came out of the studio, there were a lot of calls and messages. Then I started flipping out, ‘What is going on here?’” she recounted.

Concerned about her friend, Piesie Esther immediately reached out to Serwaa to check on her, only to be reassured that the news was false. Serwaa calmly responded, “Oh, sis, don’t worry. It’s nothing. Don’t worry. You calm down.”

When asked if she was affected by the arrest rumors, Serwaa confidently replied that she was not, saying, “Because I was not.” She maintained that she had no concerns about the misinformation once the Ghana Police Service released a statement clarifying the situation.

Humorously, Serwaa added, “I didn’t know I was that important,” to which both laughed. Piesie Esther concluded by stating they were both aware the video was from the music shoot and were unbothered by the post.
