Ghanaian actor, Joseph Nana Osei popularly known as Wayoosi has beckoned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove the recently implemented pollution charge.
He contends that it is not wise for the government to impose a new tax given the declining fortunes of the Ghanaian economy and the difficulties the people have recently faced.
He claimed that although new taxes are imposed to make Ghanaians’ problems worse, existing ones, like the E-levy, have served no purpose for the country.
Speaking on a live TikTok video that GhanaWeb was watching, Wayoosi pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to lower the tax payment amount so that people can buy decent cars that don’t release a lot of smoke.
“I would plead with the NPP government led by Akufo-Addo to scrap the emission levy. Things are tough for Ghanaians at the moment and you are adding this one too. Even countries with high pollution of smoke, none of them pay emission levies so why Ghana? Since E-Levy was implemented, we haven’t seen its usefulness yet monies are deducted during transactions.
“If we don’t take care we will soon pay an eating levy. The duty should be reduced so that people can buy good cars to avoid too much smoke. Nana B’s condemnation of the levy is very true so we are asking for it to be scrapped because it won’t help us,” he said.
Wusie tax must be removed.
I see sense in Woyoosi’s appeal.
