POLICE ARREST 3 FOR LOOTING SARDINES AFTER TRUCK OVERTURNS ON ACCRA–KUMASI HIGHWAY

The Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command has arrested three people for stealing cartons of sardines from a cargo truck that was involved in an accident on the Accra–Kumasi highway at Kwahu Fodua in the Eastern Region.

While travelling from Accra to Kumasi, the truck—a fully laden container with registration number AA 119CY—overturned, obstructing traffic in both directions. At the time, the driver and his companion were on board.

Preliminary reports suggest that the container overturned because the driver swerved to avoid a pothole in the middle of the road, while investigations are still ongoing.

Both locals and drivers flocked to the scene of the collision. Three people were seen retrieving sardines from the upturned container, while others helped to tow the car and remove the impediment.

They were captured right away and turned over to the police.

The Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw is currently treating the injured driver and his companion.
