Victim was shot and killed during daylight robbery; suspects in custody assisting with investigations.

Police in Aflao, Volta Region, have arrested four individuals in connection with the murder of a mobile money vendor in the border town. The arrests were made on Saturday, May 10, 2025, more than two weeks after the fatal robbery attack.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Felix Danku, spokesperson for the Volta Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, confirmed the arrests during a media briefing in Ho on Tuesday, May 13.

According to DSP Danku, the tragic incident occurred on April 28 at approximately 6:15 p.m. when five armed assailants attacked 37-year-old mobile money vendor Christopher Ahordo at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement factory in Aflao. The attackers fatally shot Ahordo on the spot before fleeing with a bag believed to contain a large sum of money.

The four arrested suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities are also preparing to arraign them before court.

DSP Danku used the opportunity to caution the public against criminal activities and urged community members to report suspicious behavior.

“We encourage all well-meaning citizens to support law enforcement by volunteering timely information that can help in our crime prevention efforts,” he said.

Police investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the attack.
