POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR MAN WHO SCAMMED 230 JOB SEEKERS OF GHS 2.8M IN U/E REGION
Police in the Upper East Region are actively searching for Mark Zakaria. He is believed to have cheated 230 people out of GHS 2.8 million.
Zakaria claimed he could secure them jobs in government security and education services.
Zakaria has since gone into hiding. Between March and November 2024, he collected money from these individuals, promising them government jobs. He also said he would refund their money if he failed to get them the jobs.
Over a year later, none of the promised jobs were provided. Zakaria stopped contacting them and vanished.
After trying and failing to get their money back, many people reported the situation to the Bolgatanga Police. This led to the arrest of one of Zakaria’s associates.
A Bolgatanga Circuit Court has issued a warrant for Zakaria’s arrest.
Investigations suggest that he may be hiding in Tamale, Accra, or even as far away as Australia. Police are asking the public for any information that might help capture him.
“Anyone with credible information on the whereabouts of Mark Zakaria is urged to contact the nearest police station” a police spokesperson stated.
