PRESIDENCY BROKE, CAN’T FUND INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION – Chief of Staff

According to current reports, the President’s office will not give any financial assistance for the organization of this year’s Independence Day celebrations, as has been the case in previous years.

Under a ‘Wireless Message’ to all Regional Ministers (RMs) and their Regional Coordinating Councils, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Chief of Staff, said that the country was in a state of emergency (RMCs).

She added that since the president is operating on a tight budget, it is unable to give financial assistance to the regions in celebration of Independence Day.

It has consequently been recommended by the Chief of Staff that the day be observed in humility.

This year, it will be held in the Cape Coast Sports Stadium with the theme “Working Together, Bouncing Back Better” to commemorate Ghana’s 65th anniversary of independence.
