PRESIDENT, NDC BIGWIFS UNHAPPY OVER BABA JAMAL’S VICTORY IN AYAWASO EAST – NPP Dep. Gen. Sec. Haruna Mohammed

Haruna Mohammed, Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has claimed that senior officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are unhappy following Baba Jamal’s victory in the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries held on Saturday, February 7.
Speaking Sunday on JoyNews’ The Probe, Mr. Mohammed connected the purported discontent within the NDC to the President’s decision to remove Baba Jamal from his position as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria because to allegations of vote-buying.
He claims that Baba Jamal was recalled from his diplomatic post because the parliamentary majority, the presidency, and the NDC leadership were unhappy with his win.
He further claimed that Baba Jamal’s purported affiliation with Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the NDC, is the source of the unhappiness.
“It is a clear chance to tell the people of Ghana that the presidency was not happy that Asiedu Nketia’s person had won the election. And all the machinery is against Baba Jamal; they don’t just like the man, they hate him, including the majority caucus in Parliament. I don’t know what he has done for him to be hated so much within the circle of the NDC,” he claimed.
After winning the primary, Baba Jamal is now eligible to run in the March 3 parliamentary by-election in Ayawaso East.
Due to allegations of vote-buying and inducement by some of the candidates, the fiercely contested primary garnered a lot of media attention.
