RAID OF ADDISON’S HOME PART OF INFORMATION GATHERING PROCESS – Shamima Muslim

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim talked about the recent actions by National Security teams, which targeted former officials from the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

She explained that these raids are normal steps in the ongoing investigations.

Her remarks followed the operation at the home of the former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, on March 19, 2025.

On the same evening, journalist Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah faced arrest but was later released.

Furthermore, on February 11, security officials conducted a search at the residence of ex-Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

The actions by the National Security have prompted criticism from NPP leaders.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin emphasized the need to respect democratic values and human rights during such operations.

In an interview on TV3’s ‘New Day’ on Thursday, March 20, 2025, Shamima Muslim said, “I’m yet to get to the office to receive a full briefing on the matter, but what I can say is that there are some actions going on. There are some investigations ongoing, there are persons of interest who will be now and again invited to help the investigation process.

“There are means of gathering information, and one of the means is to visit the homes of these persons of interest,” she stated.

Shamima Muslim indicated that while awaiting more information on Dr. Addison’s situation, these operations aim to collect data from individuals who are important to the investigations underway.

“I will just say that we should execute these processes with due recourse to due process and once we are doing that, we should have no problem,” Shamima Muslim asserted.
