RAPPER AGBEKO BREAKS DOWN IN TEARS, RECOUNTS BATTLE WITH DRUG ADDICTION

The Ghanaian musician reveals how substance abuse left him homeless and suffering from severe memory loss, wiping out his savings, career, and social connections.

Ghanaian rapper Agbeko broke down in tears while recounting how drug addiction destroyed his career, left him homeless, and caused severe memory loss.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Hitz FM’s Afternoon Ride on October 28, 2025, the musician revealed how his dependence on narcotics cost him everything. “I was doing drugs, I couldn’t get myself a place anymore; I had no means to. I lost everything that was holding me up, so I found myself on the street,” Agbeko confessed.

The rapper acknowledged that he did earn some income from his music career during this period, but the funds were insufficient and poorly managed due to his addiction. “If I tell you I didn’t get money from music, I lied to you. I made money,” he stated, explaining how he divided his earnings between bills, music production, and basic living expenses.

Agbeko also revealed that he turned to small-scale trading, selling clothes from a boutique and carrying merchandise door-to-door in an attempt to support himself. During his lowest points, he suffered from serious memory loss that damaged his relationships and public perception.

Dr. Cobby Washington, CEO of the Chosen Rehab Centre, who joined the show via telephone, offered the facility’s services to help the “Wotome” hitmaker recover. Agbeko claimed he was initially introduced to substance abuse by a female friend.

The rapper’s story echoes findings in the documentary Creative Addictions by Kwame Dadzie, which examines drug use among Ghanaian creatives. The piece highlights how artistic individuals often turn to stimulants, only to face career collapse, mental health issues, and personal ruin a pattern seen in other Ghanaian musicians like Kiki Gyan, Okomfo Kwadee, and Lord Kenya.
