REGARDLESS OF THE HARDSHIP, GHANA IS BETTER OFF THAN UK – Chairman Wontumi Claims

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has admitted to the existence of difficult times in Ghana.

He thinks that, despite the challenges, the quality of life in Ghana is superior to that in the United Kingdom. Chairman Wontumi noted that individuals in the UK struggle to save money as all their earnings are used for living expenses.

He mentioned how at parties in Ghana, guests are expected to bring their own food and water, as there is plenty of food available for everyone.

“I acknowledge that there is hardship in the country. But the hardship is global in nature and we are working to make life better for the people of Ghana. The standard of living in Ghana is far better than that of the people in UK.

This is true because now, even if you are attending a party in the UK, you have to provide your own drinks, water and food. So if someone earns 1,500 pounds in the UK and pays rent of 800 pounds and pay for other bills, what is left of the person to save and also take care of family? Nothing. So we are better off. In UK if you’ve to go to the hospital, you will have to book an appointment but it’s not the same with this country.

I will urge you, journalists, to tell the truth to the people of Ghana, and those who live outside Ghana should also be honest with their family members and let them understand how the hardship is global. The people should be made to know that COVID and the Russia Ukraine war has had an adverse effect on every country,” he said while speaking to the media.
