“RELATIONSHIPS IN GHANA TODAY ARE LIKE INDOMIE, TOO RUSHED” – Singer Akwaboah
Singer laments lack of patience and depth in modern love

Ghanaian singer and songwriter Akwaboah has shared his thoughts on the current state of relationships in Ghana, describing them as rushed and lacking depth.
Speaking during an interview, the musician compared modern-day relationships to the popular instant noodles brand, Indomie, suggesting that many people want quick results without investing time and effort.
“In Ghana, generally… I think everything now in relationships is like an endemic thing,” he said. “It’s like how you make Indomie in five minutes, seven minutes. Everybody wants to eat now, now, now.”
According to Akwaboah, many individuals are unwilling to go through the natural process of getting to know each other before falling in love.
“Nobody wants to go through the process. Nobody wants to really take their time to know people before they even fall in love,” he stated.
He explained that relationships often escalate too quickly, with emotions intensifying almost immediately after two people meet.
“You meet the person today, the next thing is ‘I miss you.’ The next thing is ‘I want to go see you, when are you coming home?’ And then one thing leads to the other,” he said.
The singer added that within a short period, sometimes just two weeks to a month, couples feel they have already experienced everything in the relationship, which can make it difficult to sustain a long-term commitment.
“In a period of two weeks, maximum a month, the whole relationship you’ve seen everything,” he noted.
Akwaboah suggested that compared to the past, relationships today often lack patience, intentionality and gradual emotional development, factors he believes are essential for building lasting bonds.
His comments have since sparked conversations on social media about the fast-paced nature of modern romance and the impact of instant gratification on long-term relationships.
