Veteran Ghanaian broadcaster Akwasi Aboagye has officially announced his retirement from radio, marking the end of a distinguished career that spanned nearly three decades and profoundly influenced the nation’s media landscape.

The award-winning media personality confirmed the news via a Facebook post on Monday, revealing that his final broadcast will air on December 13, 2025.

“My work as a radio presenter has come to an end. I am officially retiring from radio on 13 December 2025,” he wrote. “I am grateful to the entire management of Despite Media. I also extend my gratitude to everyone who supported me throughout this journey.”

Aboagye began his radio career in 1996 at Radio Univers before joining Peace FM under Despite Media in 1999. Over the years, he became one of Ghana’s most respected and consistent voices in entertainment journalism, earning numerous accolades and building a loyal listener base.

His retirement announcement has sparked an outpouring of appreciation from fans, colleagues, and industry leaders, many of whom have praised his professionalism, depth of knowledge, and lasting impact on Ghanaian broadcasting.
