RESIDENTS ATTACK FIRE SERVICE OFFICERS FOR ARRIVING AT SCENE OF A BURNING HOUSE WITHOUT FIRE TENDER IN DANSOMAN

Residents of Dansoman Roundabout near Zodiac in Accra became violent towards fire officers when they arrived at a fire scene without a fire tender to contain the spreading fire.

In a video posted on social media platform X by EDHUB, frustrated residents are shown slapping fire service officers for failing to extinguish a fire that had destroyed a residential building.

In 2023, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) warned that they would blacklist communities that mistreat officers while they are working.

This came after a troubling event at the O.A. Travel and Tours station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, where unknown people, angered by the supposed slow response of the Fire Service to a fire emergency, started throwing stones at the fire trucks.

The police service had to step in to bring peace before the firefighters could start their job.
