Legendary Highlife Musician Rex Omar has hinted a looming legal battle between him and sensational entertainment company Zylofon Media for copyright infringement.
Rex who is also the Chairman of Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), made the shocking revelation this morning on “Neat FM’s Entertainment Ghana”.
Even though he refused to go into details as to why he would be dragging the biggest record company currently in Ghana to court, he disclose that his lawyers have already written to Zylofon Media so details would be revealed in due time.
When host Kwame Adjietia tried to probe further, Rex reluctantly revealed that Zylofon have used his music without his permission but he refused to mention the particular song they used and what it was used for.
“My lawyers have written to them, so you would hear the details at the right time because they have money”.
Asked if he taking the legal action just for finance gains, Rex said; “They have taken my song and that is my property. As for me, my music is my property and I value every song I produce at 1million dollars. So if you take my music and you don’t tell me, you have stolen my on million dollar”, Rex emphasized.
Meanwhile, Rex Omar is currently in court with beverage manufacturing company Joy Industries for using a part of his hit song “Da da di da” to promote or advertise its product, Joy Dadi Bitters with his permission.
