ROMAN FADDA NAMED FLAGBEARER OF GHANA FREEDOM PARTY, SUCCEEDING LATE AKUA DONKOR

In a decisive move honoring the late founder Akua Donkor’s wishes, the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has appointed Roman Fadda as the party’s new flagbearer for the upcoming presidential elections on December 7, 2024. The decision was made during a meeting of the party’s Kumasi executives on November 3, where leaders formally endorsed Roman Fadda as Donkor’s successor.

According to party officials, Akua Donkor, who passed away recently, had expressed a clear succession plan, stating that her vice should take over the party’s leadership in the event of her passing. Honoring her directive, GFP executives, along with constituency and national leaders, unanimously agreed to elevate Roman Fadda to the role of flagbearer.

During the announcement, a spokesperson for the party expressed confidence in Roman Fadda’s leadership, stating, “With the support of our constituency and national executives, we uphold Roman Fadda as our new flagbearer for the GFP in Jesus’ name.”

Background: Akua Donkor and the Ghana Freedom Party

Akua Donkor was a prominent and unconventional figure in Ghanaian politics, known for her outspoken personality and dedication to championing the rights of everyday Ghanaians. She founded the Ghana Freedom Party with the vision of creating a platform that would advocate for the underserved and offer a voice to those often overlooked in mainstream politics.

Despite facing criticism and challenges from more established political figures, Donkor remained a steadfast advocate for her beliefs. She was a regular fixture on Ghana’s political scene, typically making headlines for her bold statements and unique approach to governance. Her passing marked the end of an era for the GFP, and her endorsement of Roman Fadda as her successor reflects her desire for continuity in the party’s mission.

Roman Fadda’s appointment as flagbearer ushers in a new chapter for the Ghana Freedom Party as it seeks to carry on Donkor’s legacy and make an impact in the upcoming presidential elections. Party members and supporters are hopeful that under Roman Fadda’s leadership, the GFP will continue to promote the values and principles that Akua Donkor passionately championed.
