Former Ghanaian footballer Laryea Kingston has defended the coaching staff of the Black Stars.
He strongly believes that rather than criticizing the technical team and demanding their dismissal, it is crucial to provide them with necessary assistance for the World Cup qualifiers.
Laryea Kingston is of the opinion that sacking the current technical team would result in a catastrophe during the World Cup qualifiers.
“I think we should allow him (Otto Addo) to at least finish the World Cup qualifiers; who knows? Maybe he can qualify. And then after that, we make a decision as a country. So we should give him another opportunity. If we change the coach and the technical team and bring new faces, it will be a disaster,” he said in an interview.
Ghana’s Black Stars did not secure a victory in any matches during the Afcon 2025 qualifiers while Otto Addo was in charge, competing in a group with Angola, Sudan, and Niger.
The Black Stars netted two goals but still missed out on qualifying for AFCON, which is a rare occurrence for Ghana’s men’s national team.
There are demands for the coach’s dismissal, however, he maintains that he understands the difficulties and requires time to address them.
