Award-winning Ghanaian musician, Samini has raised worries about the inadequate pay for actors in Ghana’s film sector, asserting that the compensation does not reflect the dedication actors invest in their work.
During a podcast discussion, the renowned musician disclosed that his own experiences on film sets have provided him with direct insight into the difficulties actors encounter, especially regarding pay.
In answering a query regarding why he hasn’t taken acting more seriously despite his clear talent, Samini acknowledged that the industry is excessively exhausting, both physically and financially.
The dancehall legend, who has appeared on various film sets previously, stated that actors receive significantly lower pay than musicians, even though both belong to the entertainment industry.
He demonstrated this difference by contrasting performance rates for musicians with actor earnings in 2025.
“It’s a very, very draining profession to be in,” he noted, emphasizing that he holds no disrespect for the film industry but believes actors deserve better.
