After an Accra High Court summoned celebrated Rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly called Sarkodie, to appear in a dispute against vehicle firm, Kantanka, Sarkodie has allegedly refused to follow.
Sarkodie was supposed to testify in person on June 13, 2022, to present proof on behalf of the petitioner or defendant, but he was absent according to sources.
The case has been rescheduled for June 21, 2022, with the hope that Sarkodie will show up and speak.
Refusal to do so, according to Felix Nana Osei, will result in a bench warrant being issued by the court.
Kantanka Automobile and Kwadwo Safo Jnr. have been sued over a failed pledge he made online with a guarantee with an account kantanka_daily.
Plaintiff Jude Osei claimed in a writ issued on May 14, 2019, that he received amessage on Kantaka Automobile private telling him to share an image of a Kantaka Automobile car on Twitter and that if he could obtain 30,000 retweets, he would be given a Kantanka Mensa automobile.
Jude Osei was able to reach 30,000 retweets after nearly 12 months.
He then wrote a note to Kantanka asking for his compensation, but around the time he asked for his caras promised him , Kantanka Automobile released a disclaimer stating that any tweet claiming 30,000 retweets for Kantanka Mensa should be considered a fake,
He also argues that, even if the account was fake, the company should not have waited for over a year before issuing a disclaimer.
Jude Osie expressed his dissatisfaction with the company’s silence, and the corporation did not publish a warning for almost a year, only announcing it when he had received over 30,000 retweets. He went to court based on this.
Felix Nana Osei, Jude Osei’s attorney, maintained that the account isn’t phony because it was once used to tweet a message to Sarkodie, to which the HipHop star replied.
Kwadwo Kantanka Jnr., who has the same Twitter handle as Kantanka daily, also retweeted the tweet.
He also claims that the corporation really shouldn’t have delayed over a year to provide a disclaimer, even if the profile was fraudulent.
