According to entertainment journalist Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, Sarkodie made the right choice by rejecting the record deal offered by Senegalese-American musician Akon.
Recall that there was some controversy surrounding Akon’s desire to add rapper Sarkodie to the Konvict music record company.
Before Akon admitted in an interview that he couldn’t sign Sarkodie because he wasn’t ready, several people believed it to be a myth.
Akon revealed that his staff had noticed Sarkodie was not mentally prepared for the level change and preferred to concentrate on Ghana.
Arnold seemed to feel differently about the signing of the rapper Sarkodie, though. He said the rapper made the right choice in doing that.
Arnold Asamoah Baidoo made this remark in response to dancehall artist Shatta Wale’s recent claim that Sarkodie missed an opportunity to capitalize on his relationship with Akon to become more significant.
“Sarkodie not signing unto Akon’s label is one of the biggest decisions he has taken if tht’s true. It’s his biggest decision”, Arnold says during an interview on Peace FM’s entertainment news review show.
“Tell me who you know from Akon’s label. Signee’s include OJ Boo Dirty, Demarco, Money J, Yaa Boy, Omega amongst others. I am super gratified with where Sarkodie independently has moved his career to where he is. Independently see where Sarkodie has moved his career from here to that international pedestal”.
“Shatta Wale annot match Sarkodie’s international presence. It is a fact. How was he albe to leverage on Beyonce’s collaboration? Since 2019, the likes of Burna Boy has gone on to win Grammy and playing on big big stadia. Why is Wale not comparing himself to Burna Boy?”, Arnold quizzed.
