Gospel musician Esther Smith has raised worries about certain pastors in Ghana who focus more on accumulating riches rather than tending to the less fortunate in the community.
After residing in Hamburg, Germany, she noticed that pastors in other countries frequently utilize church funds for initiatives aimed at developing and assisting the disadvantaged, making a positive difference in people’s lives.
On the other hand, she pointed out that certain pastors in Ghana utilize funds from the church for extravagant living, like purchasing fancy cars to flaunt their riches.
During a talk on Power FM, Esther Smith highlighted how this conduct has caused distrust in the church among certain individuals, and advised Ghanaian pastors to modify their actions and concentrate on creating a beneficial influence.
“As I stay in Hamburg, they build giant church auditoriums through contributions from church members and other pastors. We need to wise up; they have cheated us for so long, and this has discouraged a lot of people. I am not accusing all pastors because some are good.
“If you go to the white man’s church, they are more concerned about the poor and vulnerable in society. But our pastors are thinking about how they can use luxurious cars. We are tired,” she said in Twi.
