President John Dramani Mahama has committed to reforming Ghana’s scholarship system to promote fairness and transparency, ensuring that affluent individuals do not exploit the program to the detriment of the less fortunate.
While delivering his State of the Nation Address on Thursday, February 27, he recognized the shortcomings in the current scholarship administration.
He highlighted that numerous deserving yet financially challenged students find it difficult to obtain assistance because the system is largely influenced by the affluent.
“To fulfil my government’s vision of promoting transparency, equity, and sustainability in the scholarship scheme, we shall streamline the award process to ensure that only deserving youth benefit,” Mahama assured.
