Gospel artist Sonnie Badu has announced a philanthropic initiative to donate 300 each to three groups of people in need, just days after musician Mzbel publicly accused him of owing her 300 for nearly nine years. The announcement, made on his Instagram page earlier today, has been seen by many as a gesture of goodwill and a response to the recent controversy.
In a video shared online and sighted by Nkonkonsa, Badu revealed that the idea was inspired by a spiritual prompting. “Hey, guys. Doctor Badu here. I hope everybody is doing well. The spirit of the Lord dropped on my heart and in my spirit to do something benevolent. I want to give three sets of people a blessing of $300 each,” he said.
The beneficiaries of the initiative include:
- Widows with struggling businesses
- Intelligent students facing financial challenges in meeting school requirements
- Families unable to pay hospital bills, particularly new mothers struggling to get discharged
Badu urged the public to reach out to him or his team with recommendations for potential beneficiaries. “Tag me, send me pictures and whatever, or call Zikei on 0240167355,” he added.
The gospel musician also revealed that the initiative will begin in Ghana and expand to other African countries over the next three months. “This is starting from Ghana. In the next three months, we’ll move to a different country in Africa and be a blessing too,” he stated.
The announcement comes on the heels of a public dispute with Mzbel, who accused Badu of failing to repay a $300 debt dating back nearly a decade.
