The highly awaited Ghana Victory Concert, set up to commemorate the National Democratic Congress (NDC) success in the 2024 elections, has gone in an unforeseen direction.
Stonebwoy, who was originally named as the main performer, has been removed due to pressure from the party’s base.
Soon after the lineup was announced, some NDC supporters voiced their displeasure with the presence of the acclaimed dancehall artist, pointing to rumours regarding his supposed connections to the rival New Patriotic Party (NPP).
These issues rapidly intensified into widespread demands for his dismissal, putting the event organizers and the National Executive Council under significant pressure to respond.
In a press release distributed today, January 3, 2025, the organizers announced the decision to exclude Stonebwoy from the concert.
They expressed regret to the party’s supporters, recognizing what they referred to as “a failure of judgment” in the original lineup choice.
“We sincerely apologize to all members of the National Democratic Congress, particularly the grassroots, for what may have appeared to be a lack of discretion on the part of the organizers. We also extend our apologies to Stonebwoy and his team for this unfortunate outcome,” the statement read.
