Immigration officers stationed at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) have received a warning from Interior Minister, Henry Quartey against the practice of welcoming or accompanying friends at the airport.
The minister made it clear in a directive that any Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) officer found to be in violation of this direction would be fired.
Minister Quartey expressed his disgust at certain officers’ behaviour on Thursday, April 4, when visiting the GIS headquarters in Accra.
He cited incidents in which uniformed police were observed helping pals get through security and immigration checkpoints—a practice he found intolerable.
