Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has publicly addressed the long-standing speculation about her marriage to politician Ned Nwoko, firmly denying that she married him for his wealth.

The actress, who has faced persistent public scrutiny over the significant age and financial gap between her and her husband, opened up about the intense family conflict and personal turmoil that preceded her decision to marry.

“I’m so ashamed to say I fell in love, but I actually really did. And it’s crazy, but I did,” Regina stated, directly confronting the narrative of a marriage of convenience. She pushed back against accusations of greed, asserting, “And you all stop saying I got married out of greed. Excuse me, no, we were not broke. Does that make sense?”

Contrary to assumptions that her family supported the union for financial gain, Regina revealed the opposite was true. She disclosed that her mother, veteran actress Rita Daniels, and her brothers were vehemently opposed to the relationship and actively warned her against it.

“Stop insulting my mother. She is the best woman on earth. She warned me. My brothers warned me. Everybody warned me,” she emotionally recounted.

The situation escalated dramatically, with Regina describing a night of extreme desperation. “I drove out at night. I was going to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned,” she revealed. The chaos intensified as her family searched for her, leading to a confrontation at a police station. “I went to the police station and said, ‘Arrest me. My family does not want me to marry the love of my life.'”

Despite the public feud currently playing out between her mother and estranged husband, Regina concluded by affirming the authenticity of her feelings at the time: “But I actually did fall in love. It’s crazy, but I did. And I still care and respect him. That’s love.” Her testimony presents a starkly different picture of the marriage’s beginnings, one defined by personal conviction and intense family resistance rather than financial calculation.
