CEDI REMAINS ROBUST, TRADING AT GH¢12.89 TO THE DOLLAR ON INTERBANK MARKET

Ghana's local currency shows continued strength against major foreign currencies, despite varied rates at retail forex bureaus.

The Ghanaian cedi has maintained its recent gains, trading strongly against major currencies, especially the US dollar, on the interbank market. The Bank of Ghana’s latest daily update on May 13, 2025, indicates the cedi is currently trading at GH¢12.80 for buying and GH¢12.89 for selling against the US dollar.

Additionally, the British pound is recorded at GH¢17.02 buying and GH¢17.04 selling, while the euro is trading at GH¢14.32 for buying and GH¢14.34 for selling.

However, spot checks by GhanaWeb Business at major forex bureaus across the country at 08:00 AM on the same date showed slightly higher rates on the retail market. At these bureaus, the dollar traded at GH¢13.85, the British pound at GH¢18.70, and the euro at GH¢16.00.

The continued strength of the cedi on the interbank market is a positive sign for economic stability, although experts advise caution due to ongoing variability in retail forex bureau rates.
