Actress and producer, Yvonne Nelson doubts the pledges of political candidates for the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Although NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama and NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia have promised to back the creative arts industry, Yvonne Nelson insists that actions hold more weight than words.
During an interview with JoyNews as monitored by GhanaWeb, Yvonne Nelson stressed that she would rather concentrate on growing her business and providing employment opportunities instead of depending on political assurances.
When asked about the campaign promises made by Mahama and Bawumia on the creative arts sector, including Mahama’s plans to establish a film village and a special TV channel, she said, “They are all promising, but I just want to let my colleagues and the industry know that it’s just talk. Politicians love to talk, and you can believe them if you like. But for me and some of us, we would rather concentrate on our businesses and do what we can for Ghanaians, creating employment and helping the future generation.”
“As for the promises, I don’t even pay attention to them. It’s been said so many times, but their actions should show. Talk is cheap,” she bemoaned.
