One of Ghana’s most prominent figures, Stonebwoy, the head of Burniton Music Group, reacted strongly to the coach of the Black Stars’ announcement of the team’s final 26-man roster on November 14, 2022, in preparation for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
After the players were revealed, he accused the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of engaging in “Pay to Play” in a tweet.
His post implied that some players were not called to play for the Black Stars even though they should have been because they allegedly did not pay for a spot in the team.
He wrote on Twitter: “There are players who are supposed to be in the squad who are not here because of #PayToPlay @ghanafaofficial why?”
Despite the seriousness of this accusation made against The GFA by Stonebwoy, the latter has not yet responded.
On Saturday, November 19, 2022, on UTV’s United Showbiz, however, well-known entertainment journalist MzGee urged the GFA to demand that Stonebwoy back up his claim with proof or face legal action.
The presenter of 3 Music TV claims that Stonebwoy is an international brand, indicating that many foreign firms have heard of the accusation he has made.
And as a result, the football association’s reputation will be damaged for a very long period if it fails to investigate the matter and clear its name of these accusations.
