Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has made it clear what he believes will happen to the Ghanaian music industry in the future.
In an interview on 3Music Networks on Friday, February 16, 2023, the self-proclaimed king of African dancehall stated that his partnership with Beyoncé was the final opportunity God offered Ghana’s music industry to flourish.
In his comparison of the major award programs of the Nigerian and Ghanaian music industries, he raised the question of incentives for the Artiste of the Year winners in each nation.
“Let’s be frank here, there are awards that are being organized in other regions and they are flying their artiste of the year to Dubai and the Ghana music awards they can’t even dash.”
He claims that the industry has missed out on a chance to flourish because the wrong people are given too much credit.
“When people are talking about Nigeria I don’t want them to continue because I feel like Ghana got their chance. Let me tell you the last chance God gave us; Shatta Wale featuring Beyonce. But you see we, we want watch the coat man, we want watch people like Sarkodie” he said.
Shatta Wale continues to be one of the most important personalities in Ghanaian music, despite scandals and disputes with other musicians.
The singer recently complimented Sammy Flex, his current manager, for listening to him and meeting all of his needs as an artist.
Shatta Wale claims that the managers he has previously dealt with are constantly on the lookout for demands that are at odds with his own.
He said that out of all the managers he has worked with before, Sammy Flex truly gets him.
