Gabby Otchere-Darko, a private attorney and member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has recognized the severity of the Ghanaian economy and its effects on the country’s citizens.
According to him, ‘the struggle is real’.
The NPP member lamented the rising rate of inflation and the challenges it poses for Ghanaians in a Facebook post on Friday.
Incomes are straining to even see the back of inflation’s far shadow, much alone the many jobless with no income, so if inflation doesn’t slow down, it will soon be racing on its own. “The fight is for genuine…” he wrote.
The September inflation rate for the nation has reached an all-time high of 37.2%. The August 2022 figure of 33.9% stands in stark contrast to this.
The September inflation rates in five categories were greater than the national average, as reported by the Ghana Statistical Service.
As a result, residents have renewed their demands that the government take action.
