THE TIMES I CRIED ON SOCIAL MEDIA WAS JUST FOR CONTENT – Asantewaa Confesses

Ghanaian TikTok star, Asantewaa has confessed that the instances where she was caught crying in her videos were only for the sake of the content and not because of genuine emotions.

Asantewaa and her brother, Kayverli, were guests on the Day Show on TV3, where she discussed her approach to managing online criticism.

Speaking with Berla Mundi, Kayverli revealed that she rarely cries, even when faced with hateful comments or insults on social media. “She doesn’t really cry. She’s very strong,” he noted.

Asantewaa admitted that the few times she has been seen crying in her videos were part of her content creation, showcasing her acting skills. “Oh, it’s just content. I can produce tears right now. I’m an actress,” she explained.

Revealing the truth behind a video in which she appeared to be crying while moderating comments about her childbirth, she admitted that it was actually a performance to shed light on the impact of negativity on social media.

“That was me in other women’s shoes. (I was trying to show) how people are when being molested. For me, I’m okay. But there are others. Someone might commit suicide and all that. So that was me putting myself in people’s shoes,” she said.

Nevertheless, Asantewaa also admitted to experiencing a breakdown earlier in her journey of creating content, especially when she was facing the harsh truths of online criticism.

“That particular time was when I was now understanding… people would always be people. So, it was left for me to understand that that wasn’t the only time I was going to go through that. I would still face worse situations,” she said.
