“THERE WILL BE NO OTHER CEREMONY ELSEWHERE” – Rawlings Family Announces Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ Funeral Plans

The state-organized funeral is scheduled for Independence Square on Friday, November 28

The Rawlings family has finally released the full details for the state funeral of the late former First Lady, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

Oheneba Akwesi Abayie, the head of the family, revealed at a news conference on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, that the state-organised final funeral rites will be held at Accra’s Independence Square on Friday, November 28, 2025.

He claims that the cortege will arrive at 6:00 am, marking the start of the funeral. Additionally, he emphasised that there is no official funeral garment for the solemn service and mentioned that the colour chosen for the funeral is all-black.

The leader of the family further stressed that there won’t be any more rituals after the burial service at Independence Square.

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings died on October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital at the age of 76.

According to reports, she had an intense attack of asthma, a condition she had struggled with for a long time.
