THEY TARGETED ME AND CAME AT ME WITH A KNIFE, SO I USED PEPPER SPRAY IN SELF-DEFENSE — Mavis Hawa Koomson Speaks
Mavis Hawa Koomson, the former Minister for Fisheries, has broken the silence following the shameful brawl at the recently held by-elections at Ablekuma North.
Hawa Koomson was one of the people who were injured following the fracas that erupted at the St. Peters Methodist Church last Friday when voting was still in process.
Speaking for the first time to UTV, the former Member of Parliament debunked claims that she stormed the Polling station with pepper spray to attack others.
According to her, the pepper spray was a form of defense for her in case of any attack on her.
Hawa Koomson explained that she was at the polling station peacefully when she was attacked, and only resorted to using pepper spray in self-defence after noticing one of the assailants appeared to be wielding a weapon.
She said;
“They targeted me and came at me with a knife, so I used pepper spray in self-defense.
Those involved in the attack included the husband of the incumbent MP for Awutu Senya East, Phillis Naa Koryoo and her boys.
I know I’m a threat to the NDC, which is why I take steps to protect myself wherever I go as a form of self-defense.”
