“IF I KNEW HE WOULD DIE SOON, I WOULD HAVE HONOURED HIS INVITATION” – Serwaa Amihere Mourns Daddy Lumba
Ghanaian broadcaster Serwaa Amihere has been left heartbroken following the passing of legendary Highlife musician Daddy Lumba. In a video that has gone viral on social media, Serwaa tearfully recounted her last conversation with the late icon, revealing that she regrets not honouring his recent invitation to his home.
According to Serwaa, she spoke with Daddy Lumba just a week before his death. The veteran singer had invited her to his house for a fufu meal, a gesture she now deeply wishes she had accepted.
“This is my first time coming to Daddy Lumba’s station, and it’s just very unfortunate that I am coming here under these circumstances,” Serwaa shared. “He asked me to come eat fufu at home. If I knew he wasn’t going to be here this weekend, I would have gone the same day.”
Serwaa further disclosed that she and the late musician were planning a major concert for December 28, 2025, following their successful show earlier in February. “I spoke with Daddy Lumba this week and last week. He spoke with my dad as well. This year, in February, we had a show, and we were supposed to have the same show on December 28,” she said, her voice filled with sorrow.
Daddy Lumba, who passed away at age 60, was a towering figure in Ghana’s music industry, credited with over 33 albums and countless hit songs, including “Akoma Da Akomas So,” “Poison,” “Dangerous,” “Gold Digger,” and “Makra Mo.” His sudden demise has left a void in the hearts of many fans and industry stakeholders.
