TikTok, an international platform for short videos, has announced that it will be shutting down its music streaming service, TikTok Music, around the world on November 28th.
TikTok Music is only available in five countries at the moment: Indonesia, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, and Mexico. This indicates that the service will be discontinued in these nations.
As stated in a report by musicbusinessworldwide.com, TikTok is shifting its focus to prioritize its ‘Add To Music App’ feature, which lets users save music they find on the platform to playlists on their music streaming service of choice.
Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok, mentioned in a statement to MBW that the Add to Music App feature has facilitated hundreds of millions of track saves to partner music streaming service playlists.
“We will be closing TikTok Music at the end of November in order to focus on our goal of furthering TikTok’s role in driving even greater music listening and value on music streaming services, for the benefit of artists, songwriters and the industry.” they said.
